Estepona Tourist Guide – Spain

Estepona is a beautiful city located at a distance of fifty miles from Malaga city along the scenic Sierra Bermeja mountain range. This is among those resorts at Costa del Sol which still have maintained the original Spanish ambiance in comparison to the other resorts located in the same region. The Old Town in Estepona is a very popular destination for visitors as there are many historical monuments, tapas cafes and some very fine beaches. The Selwo Safari Park Zoo is also located near the Estepona resort.

Plaza de la Flores is the main attraction in the old town of Estepona for its orange trees and tropical fauna. There are a number of beautiful houses situated along the narrow and stone roads bordering the square of the old town. La Torre del Reloj is a historical tower which was constructed in the old town during the 15th century and is a place worth visiting.  Nuestra Senora de los Remedios Church is another historical landmark here which was constructed in the 18th century, you will also find the old walls of a historical castle in the Estepona Old Town.

Estepona has four museums which are worth visiting, including the famous Bullfighting Museum. There is also a local museum in the town where you will find a great collection of old fishing and farming tools. The Paleontology Museum is also located in the town which contains one of the largest collections of fossils in Spain, numbering almost two thousand. The fourth museum is the Archaeology Museum and it displays a great collection of artifacts belonging to ancient and pre-historical times.

Beaches in spanish villas are very fine and well equipped: they include the Playa de la Rada which covers an area of more than two miles and has many popular bars and cafes along the entire beach. There is a beautiful esplanade and marina as well on this beach and you can also take a boat trip from the marina to nearby towns. Several night-time discos are also located at the marina and keep the place busy especially during the summer. In the early mornings, this marina becomes a fish market for the local fishermen. Playa del Cristo is a protected cove in Estepona which is worth visiting and you can also visit the Costa Natura Naturist resort located on the western side of Estepona, at a distance of couple of miles.
