Touristic Salamanca Spain


Situated in Castilla Y Leon region, Salamanca is famous for the many monuments and University. The monuments are mainly cathedrals, churches and ancient palaces. It is actually a World Heritage destination and it is therefore not a wonder that it receives thousands of tourists through the year.

Cathedrals Vieja and Nueva are the most outstanding here and their construction began back in 1514. They are both works of art with a mixture of style. For instance, the Nueva Cathedral has a mix of Baroque and Gothic and the most interesting parts in the cathedral are the dome which is well adorned and the carvings found here telling Jesus’ life. The old cathedral on the other hand is a complete contrast because of its simplicity and dates back to the 12th century.

Plaza Mayor, the city’s heart is said to be Spain’s most beautiful square. There are plenty of pavement cafes on its edge and there is an amazing town hall on its side. One of the most popular attractions here is the House of Shells which is a monument covered with shells and carved from stone. It was built in honor of pilgrims of Santiago Compostela. The 17th century La Clerecia church is famous and is worth visiting as well.

The world famous Salamanca University has attracted famous people from across the world and even though its performance is no longer the same, it still does attract students from the different parts of the world. Next to it is a beautiful ancient church San Esteban which is most famous for the carved façade whose view is best during the evenings. Other areas that are worth visiting while on the region include the art deco museum which has numerous items including jewelry, old furniture and oil paintings. Some of the interesting pieces are those by Lalique a famous glassmaker.

Tourists coming to Salamanca can find all the information that they need from the Plaza Mayor which has a tourist office. It remains open everyday for the most part of the day. Even though Salamanca does not have an airport, the train and bus services are amazing. Early planning has remained to be an essential part of ensuring that a holiday is enjoyed and the same should be the case for those visiting luxury villas spain . The Many Attractions in Arrecife

Arrecife city is currently Lanzarote’s capital with a 46,000 population. This makes it the largest city on the island. It is a harbor city which obtained its name through the presence of abundant reefs around its coast. There are many visitor attractions in Arrecife which include historical monuments, tantalizing seafood restaurants and many shops.

Historical attractions

This city boasts of two castles; the 16th century Castillo of San Gabriel is the oldest castle on the tiny islet situated opposite the city. It is easily accessible through a causeway. This Castillo houses a small museum which exhibits information on the island’s original inhabitants. The other castle is at the city’s outskirts; the bigger San Jose Castillo sports a pleasant Art Gallery and an artistically designed restaurant by the famous Cesar Manrique who is a sculptor and an architect.

Arrecife’s most prominent landmark is the Gran Hotel. It was Cesar Manrique’s efforts in stopping the building of a modern tower hotel in the city during the sixties. Although the high rise was halted for many years, it is now completed. There are no buildings over 4 storey’s in Arrecife to avoid the city from being ruined with high towers. Manrique managed to design some of Arrecife’s best attractions.

The city lagoon at Charco San Gines is a lovely spot for locals and tourists to hang out; it is a quiet spot surrounded by old houses, restaurants and tapas bars. The Playa del Reducto is the main beach for Arrecife. There is a nice esplanade at the beach that has many palm trees, pubs and bars which make the perfect relaxing stop.

Arrecife will thrill shopaholics with its delightful shopping area with many choices of goods. There is a myriad of boutiques for the ladies and electrical shops for the guys. The numerous pavement cafés at the shopping area are appropriate for shoppers to rest and relax over a cup of coffee or glass of beer before continuing with their shopping delight. Tourist Attractions in Santiago de Compostela


Santiago de Compostela has various sites that are worth visiting when touring the region. It is one of Spain’s monumental cities with the rich history safely tucked into the remains of the different historic periods that are the monuments around the city. There are several squares here all of which have a lot to offer to visitors and people who choose to spend some time in exploring the land. Obradoiro Plaza: the name of the plaza generally means work of gold and it is quite shiny for that matter. It is the center of Santiago which in itself is a museum. There is an interesting cathedral and a chapel which is well preserved to date and also has beautiful towers adding to the shining beauty. Every part of the construction is quite something to behold hence the popularity the cathedral has gained over the years.

They have cathedrals, convents, monasteries and baroques all of which hold great value and architectural importance.

Places of tourist interest in Spain - Cadiz


A part of the Hamonymoous province, Cadiz actually is a part of the Andalusia community. This city is also an important port and now it is a most popular tourist spot. It is also a military base for the Spanish navy. This city with multifarious facets has been receiving thousands of tourists every year. Let us go round the city and enjoy the natural beauty and also visit some of the important tourist places:

Historic buildings:

There are numerous historic buildings in this city of Cadiz. Some of the popular historic buildings are Plaza San Antonio, Plaza de Mina, Plaza de San Juan de Dios, Plaza de Candelaria. These historic buildings are located in close proximity and according to archeologists they were built during the 18th and 19th century. For example Plaza San Antonio is a classic gothic style building and archeologists say it was originally built in 1669 and it was subsequently remodeled during the 19th century. Similarly Plaza de la Catedral is yet another popular historic building which is also considered to be a religious place where most of the visitors make their daily prayers.

Yet another popular building is Tavira tower which is a watch tower for the merchant navy.

Beach:

La Playa de la Caleta is the most popular beach of Cadiz. This immensely beautiful beach has attracted thousands of tourists from many parts of Europe. This popular beach has surrounded the two historical forts namely San Sebastian and Santa Catalina. This beach is approximately three kilometers long with abundant water sports and facilities for fishing. On the beach there are numerous hotels which serve the most delicious food and the popular local wine.

Tourism Guide to Girona- Spain


Girona is mostly known among the visitors for its international airport as most of the visitors travel to their resorts in Costa Brava or to Barcelona, after landing at this airport, so they miss this beautiful and historical Catalan district. There are a lot of activities and attractions in Girona for the visitors like art galleries, historical monuments, museums and great architect of medieval times. There is a famous bridge called Pont de les Peixateries which is built over the Onyar River and it flows towards the centre of the city. You will find many old houses with different bright paints like red, orange and green are located along with the river and adds the beauty into the scenery of surroundings.

Girona is being ruled by many civilizations over the centuries and you will find number of foot prints of theses nations in the city. Celt Iberians were the first to establish the town and later on Roman’s took control of the city from these tribes. Till 1492, this city was dominated by the Jewish population and you will find many roads in the form of maze in the old town of the city belonging to the Jewish rule and this part of the old town is very famous among the visitors.

Arab Baths, a landmark of the city are located in the north of the Jewish section and these were constructed during the 12th century.
