The Costa del Sol capital is Malaga with an international airport that is the golden gateway to all other Andalusian cities and towns in Spain. As one of Spain’s largest airport, Malaga airport can cater to around 10 million visitors annually. Hence, Malaga tourism is rich and vibrant with the local authorities actively promoting it throughout the year.

The city of Malaga is a major port as well as an illustrious industrial sector in the southern part of Spain. It is easy to get in and out of Malaga with the well developed N340 highway and its comfortable and well maintained coastal rail service. This is important to the role of Malaga tourism to enable easy movement of tourists. There are many sights and wonders which one would be enthralled with Malaga. The historical richness and culture with its numerous festivals like the Three Kings Festival is more than enough to make Malaga a favorite tourist spot anytime of the year. Malaga tourism is thriving and successful with the well planned city offerings of rich historical monuments and culture.

There is over 3,000 years of rich history to be explored and appreciated in Malaga alone which Malaga tourism can offer. Continuous excavations and archeology discoveries have unearthed the presence of various eras such as the Carthaginians, the Moors and the Romans. This is evidenced by the many historical monuments that can be sighted in Malaga.One of the more famous Malaga tourism attractions is the La Manquita cathedral which carries the meaning of “Little one-armed lady”. Its long period of building stretched over various eras which display Renaissance, Neo-classical and Baroque architectural styles. Another famous Malaga tourism attraction is its cathedral; mainly the 15th century Alcazaba which stands imposingly magnificent.

This was a Moorish fort which defended the city during its days of glory; today, it offers panoramic views from its roof although it does not function as a fort anymore. One can view the entire Malaga city and its port easily.There are many castles in Malaga such as Monte de Gibralfaro , villa rental spain which are worth a visit. A lot of the city’s history is embedded in the city museums which may have been ancient palaces. Tourists to Malaga would enjoy the open-top buses which ply the city around these wonderful sights of attraction. Malaga tourism has contributed to the city’s development in making the city known to the world.
